The Awesome Ants had a spectacular last day of camp! We started our day singing our morning song, putting our pictures up on the welcome board, and then heading outside to have some fun running around. It was our best day walking on the rope yet!
Language Circle
When we came back in, it was time for a quick snack and then language circle. Today we started language circle by talking about the sun and the moon. Then we read "The Moon" by Robert Louis Stevenson.
After reading, we used our language board to sort moon things from sun things. The sun is hot, yellow, made of fire, and out during the day. The moon is cold, white, made of rocks, and out during the night.
Science
After learning that the sun was so hot in language circle, we spent science learning that the sun can melt things! First, everyone guessed whether the sun would melt crayons or blocks.
Then, we worked together and took turns to fill up a muffin tin with crayons and blocks. Miss Molly took the tray outside to sit in the sun!
After taking a break to play in centers, Miss Molly brought the tray back inside and we took a look inside. The crayons melted, but the blocks hadn't. Best of all, everyone got a multicolored crayon to color with!
Art
Today in art, we made suns! The Ants used forks and yellow paint to give their suns rays so that they could shine, shine, shine!
The Awesome Ants learned a ton and made a lot of new friends over the past four weeks! We're so glad they were here to fill our classroom with sunshine!
