First Day of Camp!

What a wonderful first learning about OUR BODY!

The Awesome Ants had a fun first day of camp! We started off our morning playing in centers. Then we introduced ourselves to the class and sang our good morning song.  After circle time, we went outside to the playground. We played on the slides, in the sand and "drove" the car.

Today's book was Two Eyes, A nose, and a Mouth by Roberta Grobel Intrater.  This book talks all about the features on our face.

After reading our book we all got to pass around a mirror and point to all the things on our face.  Then we had a language activity to talk about our favorite colors and taking turns labeling our big face with pictures of our eyes, nose, ears, mouth, and hair!

During science, we reviewed our favorite colors from this morning and got a chance to make our own colors.  We mixed some homemade playdough into yellow and blue balls.  Then we shared with our friends and mixed our two colors together to get GREEN playdough! Each of our campers got to put a color on our "I think..." board when they guessed what color yellow and blue would make when mixed together.  After mixing the colors together we learned that it made green!

We had a great time in centers today getting to read our books and play with our friends all while learning more about our colors and OUR BODY!

During art, we brought out our mirrors again from this morning and got the chance to make our own.  We decorated our construction paper using dot markers and then glued on our aluminum foil to make a shiny mirror to see our faces in.

What a super FUN first day!!  We can't wait to learn more about OUR BODY tomorrow!!
