Way far away on a Wild Safari!

Week 3 - Safari

Today kicked off our Tuesday morning talking in our welcome circle about all the cool animals we learned about yesterday and then it was off to outside play.  We did an amazing job today walking back inside.

Today in language circle we read "Way Far Away on a Wild Safari" by Jan Peck.  All our ants loved seeing the animals that the little boy saw throughout the book.  He used his binoculars to look at all the different animals.  We used our binoculars in the circle to see the animals too!

After the story, we compared the animals to see which ones were big and which ones were small.  We even talked about which ones our binoculars would help us see bigger!

For science we brought our jungle board to the table and experimented with magnifying glasses and binoculars.  Did they make the animals bigger or smaller?  We took turns with out "I Think..." board and made a prediction.  We looked through the magnifying glasses and the binoculars at all the different animals and they looked BIGGER!

After science we took a break to play in centers - some of our ants even stayed at our science table to keep experimenting with the binoculars and looking at all the animals.  We also loved reading our books!  They are always such a big hit.  We love teaching our Ants to love books!

Then we came back to our table for art and got to make our very own binoculars!  We decorated them and added some string so that we could wear them.  Then we practiced looking through our binoculars to see our friends.

We had such a great day learning about our animals and practicing using our binoculars.  We can't wait to learn even more about our Wild Safari tomorrow!
