We love trees!

The Awesome Ants had a terrific time today! We spent the day learning all about safari trees and their leaves. You wouldn't believe all of the fun that we had!

As usual, the Awesome Ants started the day by putting their pictures up on the welcome board.

After welcome circle, we headed outside to the playground where we worked on our joint play skills!

Language Circle

Today in Language Circle, we read "I Love Trees" by Cari Meister. This book told us all about the different types of trees (big, tiny, smooth, and spiky), as well as all of the things that are made from trees!

The Ants were so interested in today's book!

After we finished reading, everyone had a chance to match their two leaves to the correct tree on the language board!

Science

After singing our Ten Little Leaves song, we moved to the table for science! The experiment today was so much fun and all of us even got a little wet! First, the Ants guessed which leaves would keep the animals dry in the rain - the big leaves or the small leaves.

Here are our guesses on our science board!

Then it was time to find out the answer! We poured water over a tree with small leaves and checked to see if the animals underneath were wet or dry. They were wet! Then, we poured water over a tree with big leaves and checked the animals again. They were dry! Everyone took a turn making it rain and feeling if the animals were wet or dry!

Art

During art, the Ants were given a tree without any leaves! They used bingo dotters and tissue paper to add leaves to their trees.

Miss Dallas even got in on the tree-decorating fun!

The Awesome Ants loved spending week 3 of camp on the safari! We can't wait to blast off with our Outer Space theme on Monday!
